I was about to take a rest from hunting...

I was starting to stress myself out that we would never find the right house, in the right place, at the right price. I had got to the stage that I figured we may need to give up the hunt for 6 months to a year to build up a bigger pot of cash - and then there was this...

The house you are looking at is the one with white shutters, the bit with brown shutters is apparently a bit of a ruin that is attached to what I am praying will become our French home from home - but that might work in our favour in time! It is in a beautiful village, as you can see, with a well-liked restaurant and bar (essential to keep Aidan happy) and though it has only a very tiny patch of outside space, it does have a balcony and the area beside the river opposite to sit out and enjoy.
This house is not, at least I don't think it is, a long term option. If we could find out who owns the ruined house that is attached and perhaps buy it sometime down the line, if we have the money to undertake a renovation project, or we could perhaps just demolish it and have the land as a garden, there might be some scope for the future. But for a holiday home for the next few years - and perhaps to live in if we can find a way to make money that doesn't involve us setting up a b&b or campsite, then it is pretty much everything I could ask for.

Some people want sea, sand and sunshine. I want trees, mountains, rivers and lots of shade!
I am really hopeful about this one... now to convince Aidan that we put in a cheeky offer before we can get to France to see it in person 😆🤪😆
