So, it's 434 in the morning, and I'm wide awake and writing a blog post!

Well, here we go!
Welcome to our blog. I hope you won't find it too dull - as it is basically just going to be me, pouring out my heart as we go through the madness of upping sticks and moving to France. I will not guarantee that there will be anything worth reading, but I feel that this is something I should do, to chronicle the craziness of this process.
So, I won't lie, Brexit is part of the reason we're making the leap, but it isn't the only one. We've been talking about retiring to France for a few years now, and I've always wanted to live abroad - even if just for a few years, just to know what it is like to live in a different place, with different traditions, where I can learn the language and experience something different to the world I know and grew up in.
But, it was a surprise windfall that made it possible - and so, here I am, getting ready for a viewing trip in just a few weeks time, to see about 20 properties in just three days! Aidan won't be coming with me, as Bob is on thyroid medication and is a grouchy old puss that won't let anyone but us near him, so one of us has to always stay with him (part of the reason I'm up at this ungodly hour is because I've just seen Aidan off on a skiing trip with friends).
Aidan's not much of a window shopper, and traipsing round houses is his idea of hell - so, I'll go and indulge my curiosity and narrow the search down to just one or two, take a lot of photos and then involve him! I've shown him loads of pictures on the internet and he mostly just grunts and says they look fine, but I know he's not really looking and doesn't really much care. When we moved to the house we currently live in, I viewed about 30 properties and only brought Aidan to see this one. The great thing is we do have pretty similar tastes in things, and we know what we like, so I'm hoping that the pressure of such an important task won't be too onerous!
Bob will be happy as long as there is a nice warm, sunny spot to sleep in, and plenty of mice for him to chase!
